Spending money rightly is a greater art than earning it.

Question- I am making around 5 lakh per month, still I cannot live the life you are living.

Ikkyu- ‘Sir, this is where you are mistaken, you don’t live life by what you earn, you live life by what you spend. It may be true that you make 5 lakh per month, but how much do you spend? You must be hoarding 90% of your income and spending only 10%. Whereas I spend 100% of my income, I don’t hoard even a single penny, for I don’t think of the morrow. I live in the present; I know that the future doesn’t exist. In my view, to live Omarkhayamic life, one needs courage more than money. 

Unless you learn to spend money without any compulsion, you cannot enjoy life. You may invest 5 lakh in something, with the hope to earn 10 lakh in the future, but that is not spending. You may spend 10 lakh on your daughter's wedding, but that's not spending either. It's also an investment, you spend so that you can earn 'Izzat' in society. You are simply incapable of spending money without fear and greed. You may pay 5 lakh at a hospital, but that's because of the fear of dying. It is not spending again. Spending money rightly is a greater art than earning it. Any idiot can earn it, mostly only idiots are good at earning. But, it needs some understanding of life to spend wisely. 

I know many people who have earned so much money that their 3 generations can live without earning a penny, still they go on earning. Not only do they earn themselves, but they also push their children to earn. 

Sir, it is high time, you stopped earning. Start living now.
